But kitsch cars offer something. Exotic(ish) looks on a pedestrian budget. And oddly enough, some kit cars and limited production cars are starting to be considered collectible in their own right.


You probably haven't heard of Aquila before, and that wouldn't be a big surprise - there are only 137 that were claimed in the late 1970s. Like many kit cars, they're based on a pretty standard Volkswagen Beetle platform, but the styling borrows heavily from Paul Brake's BMW Turbo concept - although many believe it should be an M1. . Although these are much rarer than the M1. Does that make it more desirable? Well...no, not really. But finding one is still pretty neat! Let's take a look:
